Standing at the foot of the mountain — excited, nervous, and unsure where the new path begins?
For a long time, your energy was completely consumed by surviving the storm of an ending. You were focused on untangling yourself from the past and finding your footing on shaky ground. But slowly, the dust has settled. The silence doesn’t feel quite so heavy anymore, and a quiet whisper of curiosity is starting to return.
You’re standing at the threshold of a brand-new chapter. There’s a beautiful sense of freedom in that — and it can also feel confusing. You have a lot of firsts ahead of you, perhaps at a time when you thought you had few left. Both exciting and daunting.
A new beginning takes a different kind of bravery
- Discovering a new hobby or passion
- Joining a new group to meet like-minded people
- Enjoying a drink or a meal by yourself in a restaurant
- Looking into new career options
- Tentatively considering dating
This is your time to thrive.
I understand that it takes thought, time and energy to lace up your hiking boots at the bottom of the track and look up at your mountain. I know it can seem easier to persuade yourself that these new beginnings aren’t worth the effort.
But I’m here to tell you that you are brave — brave to put yourself out there, to be seen, to try, and to take up space in these new endeavours.
Did you make yourself small, and spend a long time keeping yourself small? Did you dim your light so much that it almost went out, to accommodate a relationship that didn’t nourish you? It’s time to reignite the spark within you. I invite you to take the first step on your new path with me.
The Horizon Path
Three prompts for pondering or journaling.
Make yourself a drink, grab your journal, and take a seat. Drop your shoulders away from your ears, breathe in, and exhale completely. Allow yourself to just be here, exactly as you are, without judgment — answer with raw honesty. Write your thoughts down, or simply think them aloud.
01 · Bringing back the light
What is one hobby, passion or small piece of yourself that you put on the back burner during your past relationship — one you’re ready to bring back into the light? Think of what used to light you up: creative projects, learning, places, food you loved to cook or eat.
02 · Setting your non-negotiables
As you step into new endeavours — a new group, a career change, perhaps dating — what is your number one non-negotiable boundary to protect your energy and your peace?
03 · Taking the bold step
If fear, doubt or the judgement of others weren’t in the room, what is one bold, exciting choice you’d make for yourself in this next chapter? Imagine you can’t fail — what is the first track you’d take up the mountain?
A note from me
I vividly remember sitting in the dark, wondering how I would ever move forward. But I equally remember those quiet whispers and small stirrings as something within me began to wake up again — the beginnings of reclaiming my identity and finding out who I was.
Starting over in midlife was a terrifying prospect I hadn’t considered until I absolutely had to. I had to rebuild my life from scratch, in a new city and later a new country. I learned to find joy and gratitude in the smallest things, and that slowly reignited my desire to rebuild.
I know how hard it is to look forward when you’re so busy closing the doors on your past. The mountain ahead seems vast and unscalable — where do you even begin? I know that feeling of dread, and I’m here to lace up my boots right alongside you and start to climb, in whichever direction you choose.

Meet Janine
I’m Janine Jenkins, a Certified Life Coach and founder of Undo the Glue. I have lived a life with many chapters — some I wrote myself, and others that were hijacked by a different author. I know what it’s like to sit in the shit and not be able to see a way out.
I understand how it feels to lose yourself and be scared to take the next step because every single direction feels like the wrong one. But you don’t have to figure out the whole route today — we just need to find your footing for the next ten minutes.
